Connection coefficients for Laguerre–Sobolev orthogonal polynomials

چکیده
Laguerre–Sobolev polynomials are orthogonal with respect to an inner product of the form 〈p,q〉S = ∫∞ 0 p(x)q(x)x αe−x dx + λ∫∞ 0 p′(x)q′(x)dμ(x), where α > −1, λ 0, and p,q ∈ P, the linear space of polynomials with real coefficients. If dμ(x) = xαe−x dx, the corresponding sequence of monic orthogonal polynomials {Q n (x)} has been studied by Marcellán et al. (J. Comput. Appl. Math. 71 (1996) 245–265), while if dμ(x) = δ(x)dx the sequence of monic orthogonal polynomials {L n (x;λ)} was introduced by Koekoek and Meijer (SIAM J. Math. Anal. 24 (1993) 768–782). For each of these two families of Laguerre–Sobolev polynomials, here we give the explicit expression of the connection coefficients in their expansion as a series of standard Laguerre polynomials. The inverse connection problem of expanding Laguerre polynomials in series of Laguerre–Sobolev polynomials, and the connection problem relating two families of Laguerre– Sobolev polynomials with different parameters, are also considered. 2003 Elsevier Inc. Varying discrete Laguerre-Sobolev orthogonal polynomials: Asymptotic behavior and zeros
We consider a varying discrete Sobolev inner product involving the Laguerre weight. Our aim is to study the asymptotic properties of the corresponding orthogonal polynomials and of their zeros. We are interested in Mehler–Heine type formulas because they describe the asymptotic differences between these Sobolev orthogonal polynomials and the classical Laguerre polynomials. Moreover, they give u...

The aim of this paper is to study differential properties of orthogonal polynomials with respect to a discrete Laguerre–Sobolev bilinear form with mass point at zero. In particular we construct the orthogonal polynomials using certain Casorati determinants. Using this construction, we prove that they are eigenfunctions of a differential operator (which will be explicitly constructed). Moreover,...

We look for differential equations of the form ∞ ∑ i=0 ci(x)y (x) = 0, where the coefficients {ci(x)} ∞ i=0 are continuous functions on the real line and where {ci(x)} ∞ i=1 are independent of n, for the generalized Jacobi polynomials { P n (x) } ∞ n=0 and for generalized Laguerre polynomials { L n (x) } ∞ n=0 which are orthogonal with respect to an inner product of Sobolev type. We use a metho...

We look for differential equations of the form ∞ ∑ i=0 ci(x)y (x) = λny(x), where the coefficients {ci(x)} ∞ i=0 do not depend on n, for the generalized Jacobi polynomials { P n (x) } ∞ n=0 found by T.H. Koornwinder in 1984 and for generalized Laguerre polynomials { L n (x) } ∞ n=0 which are orthogonal with respect to an inner product of Sobolev type. We introduce a method which makes use of co...

Suppose that for an arbitrary function $f(x,y)$ of two discrete variables, we have the formal expansions.
